Today, ON THE BLOG, I’d be having a startup interview with Goldies Creations. Goldies Creation was founded by Wuraola Popoola. Wuraola is creating a brand that deals with Ankara crafts and prints. Young people in business need to be celebrated. It is not easy to sit down and start a business in this part of the world. Especially when you are faced with funding issues and ever-changing government policies.
Tell our readers about you and your business?
Hi friends, my name is Wuraola Popoola. I am a student of agriculture and, by privilege, the brain behind Goldie Creations. Goldie Creations is an Ankara craft business where we work with African print fabrics on tee shirts, phone pouches, throw pillows, slides, pams, book covers, jotters, and bags. All things Ankara.
What is the story behind the creation of Goldie Creations? How long has your business been running?
Majorly, it’s just to have something of my own, especially during the lockdown when everyone suddenly had to think deeply and learn to use their gifts and talents to become productive, I just knew I had to do more and make money.
To the glory of God, Goldie Creations has been running for a year, 3 months, and counting.
What has your experience been like running a business like yours in Nigeria? What is the best and worst part?
It’s been great, actually. Making people see the beauty behind our very own African fabrics feels good.
The best is when people plan to travel out of the country, probably to countries outside Africa, and buy products made with African prints, promoting our African culture and uniqueness.
The worst I could say is just the rise in prices of raw materials, making profits low.

Where do you see Goldies Creations in the next 1 Month, 6 Months, 1 Year, 5 Years from now?
Ha, I see Goldies Creations as Goldies Creations Africa, recognised and accepted globally. And getting better by the month.

Since you conceptualised this idea, what has been your biggest lesson?
I learned consistency, most importantly.
What do you need to take your business to the next level? And why should investors buy into your business?
More capital is needed to acquire more equipment as well as more customers.
Investors should buy into my business because Goldie Creations will never disappoint, and they will definitely get a good return on their investment in the business.
What’s your advice for those willing to tow in this line?
Be consistent, be creative, take to corrections, do research, love what you do and be a winner.

Finally, what should we expect from Goldie Creations?
Greatness and value for your money, of course.
How can we reach you?
