Today, ON THE BLOG and on HD Startup Interview, we interview the Founder of Soulz Footwear. In this interview with Soulz Footwear, this leather shoe startup and the fun fact about this business is run by Solomon a student of the University of Ibadan. Read through the interview and be inspired.

Tell our readers about you and your business?

My name is Solomon. I usually get called Soulzman by my friends, hence the reason behind my brand name. Soulz Footwear is a shoemaking enterprise. We make and sell all kinds of leather footwear for men. Our products have given us more reputation as it speaks for itself. We give the average Nigerian affordable luxury.

What is the story behind the creation of Soulz Footwear? How long has your business been running?

Well, I started as a middleman in 200 level. Looking for something to fend for myself. Then I fell in love with the craft and learnt it. I can proudly say that I’m very good at what I do now. It was pretty easy for me to build the business because I already had a customer base. And the brand has been running for 2 years now.

What has your experience been running a business like yours in Nigeria? What is the best and worst part?

Well, my major challenge is funding to rebrand this business and take it to the next level. Also, as a student, it’s not really easy trying to balance academics and business together. It’s really tough. Aside from that, others are just normal challenges we business owners face.

Where do you see Soulz Footwear in the next 1 month, 6 months, 1 year, 5 Years from now?

A big and well-established shoemaking enterprise. My dream is that my brand name will be recognised anywhere in Nigeria. This I know isn’t easy, but with the right funding and hard work. I should be able to achieve my goal.

Since you conceptualised this idea, what has been your biggest lesson?

What I’ve learnt so far is to always believe in myself. Honestly, I won’t be where I am now if not for the self-confidence I had then when I started this brand.

What do you need to take your business to the next level? And why should investors buy into your business?

I need capital. Honestly, what we offer in Soulz Footwear differs from other brands. I can send my proposals to prove why an investor should invest in me.. Take, for instance, we give our client a shoe guild on how to properly use the shoe. We are business-oriented, yes, but we also want our clients to know what they are wearing. This alone builds confidence between us and our client. More benefit attaches to patronising Soulz Footwear, but I leave that to you when you patronise me to see for yourself.

What’s your advice for those willing to tow in this line?

My advice is that you find your path and work towards life. This life is too short to be doubting yourself. Some of us are closer to where we are going to than where we are coming from.

Finally, what should we expect from Soulz Footwear?

Expect lifestyle. Our motto is “we walk you in style and confidence”. So expect a full lifestyle from Soulz Footwear.
