I’m smiling even if I can’t – the irony, right? After about 5 minutes with a song by Johnny Drille, the show resumed.

“Hi, we are back. The topic once again is, ‘Why do people get married?’ Or you could just tell us why you got married or want to be married. “Alright, we have a caller.”

“Hello, good morning, your name, and where are you calling from?”

“Hey Sewa, good morning. I’m Angela, calling from Area 12.”

“Angela, go on, why do you want to get married?”

“I’m married already.”

“Oh, nice”

“Yes”, she continued. “I got married to the man I love. We got married because we both love each other, and what is better than to spend your time with the one you love?”

“Thank you, Angela. She got married for love, like a lot of people do. That’s great. We have another caller. Your name and where you are calling from”

I’M SMILING EVEN IF I CAN’T REMEMBER

“My name is Segun from Lugbe. I think people get married either because they are forced to, are getting old, or see other people doing it, some to bear children.”

“Thanks, Segun from Lugbe.” After ending that call, I continued the show. “Our last caller has told us that people are married for reasons that seem satisfactory to them. Some do not even have a choice. Religious books have urged us to be married for the sake of procreation and because it is a natural order from God himself. But aside from the being alone thing, most people overlook the part of being a helper and needing help. In simple words, fitting purpose.

As we wrap up the show today, let us note that in getting married, we are choosing partners to ensure that we are happy and fulfilled. Marriage should be a regret-free zone. Let’s talk again on Sessions with Sewa, same time next week, Friday, on your favourite station, Diamond FM 103.9. Thank you.”

In a way, I was glad the show was over. I still had that date with Mohammed. There is no better way to start the weekend than a date with a handsome-looking guy. I left the studio as the next program began and went to my office. I sat and began to wait for the closing time. While waiting, I started going through my social media pages. I logged on to Facebook. I checked my notifications. After that, I began to look into my Facebook friend request.

After accepting and rejecting quite a few, I spotted one from Taiwo Daniels. Taiwo Daniels was a secondary schoolmate of mine who had spent his whole secondary school days troubling me. I didn’t bother about the whole thing, but I accepted anyway.

What’s the worst that can happen?
