Everybody everywhere has been shouting, ‘hustle o, hustle o’. Hustle this, hustle that. What if I actually don’t want to hustle? Or what if I have been hustling for so long and hustle has not paid? Then, the frustration of that is setting in? So, which do we do, hustle or hard work?

HUSTLE OR HARD WORK

We really just like to put a lot of unnecessary pressure on ourselves. A lot of the things said about the hustle is true though. I mean, nobody wants to be described by a particular blue shirt or by a particular blue shoe. But, what if I just like blue?

The pressure got to me at a particular point, and I had to make a list of things I don’t have and be getting them on a scale of preference/priority. I changed my mind again because a local man cannot die. You don’t like what you see, you can always look away. Leave me and my blue shirt, I am humbled and I don’t want to show off.

Life, itself, is in stages. Back then 100 level, I don’t think I made any hair worth more than 1,000 Naira to 1,500 Naira. You don’t want to know the price today, it’s almost a 100 % increase. Maybe, inflation caused it, nobody knows. I’m still making my hair.

I can imagine a Yahoo boy also advising people to hustle. The competition is so unnecessary, plus, the comparison that follows. The end result is pressure and taking on a lot of responsibilities that are not related to your life plan.

Maybe if we change the term it will make it sound better in my ears. Instead of hustle, let’s go back to saying ‘Hard Work‘. At the end of the day, it’s really not what you call it but what you do and how you do it.

Which is preferable — hustle or hard work?

Hustle o, hustle o. But which hustle. Again, I am still thinking about this whole convocation and NYSC thing. A lot of people are so excited about these things, but they don’t have any plans. I even have a small plan, it looks big in my eyes, but I’ll do it. We can’t get any more time. Just to make every day count and produce the right results.

Wait, a lot of people are relying on the connection. What if that uncle/chief dies? What then? (No evil meant, just saying)

If you are not in your final year, hustle o, make responsibilities, no go hold you for leg…

HUSTLE OR HARD WORK

Please, stay off the pressure. Don’t put on others. Don’t let others put it on you. It’s your story, write it how you deem fit. A lot of these people won’t be there when you are struggling. Again, the world wants results, not excuses.
