I’m sure you’d be wondering what this Gen Z thing is all about. Well, it’s Gen Z Season. So why is Doyinsola always screaming Gen Z everywhere? Why are you seeing it all over your social media? Gen Z shouldn’t be a strange term to you but if it is, you’re welcome to the blog and we’d be sharing what it means and how it affects you.

What is Gen Z?

Gen Z is the shortened form of Generation Z. Generation Z is the generational cohort following millennials. They are born between the late 1990s and early 2010s. Generational cohorts are defined by years of birth because the age range will always shift.

Right now, it’s Gen Z Season, it is our time. The oldest of Gen Zs are graduating from college/universities. Life is beginning to happen to us. We are the next set of workers. Gen Zers are out there looking for jobs, we need a dependable source of income, have our finances sorted out, we are entering relationships, some are getting married and others may be having kids.

We are at the front and centre of marketing. Brands want to sell to us. Nations are looking at us leaders of tomorrow. While Millennials are wondering whatever it is that we are doing.

What You Should Know About Generation Z?

IT'S GEN Z Season
  1. Gen Z are more social and will spend more time with family and friends.
  2. They are multitaskers.
  3. Gen Z tend to be more entrepreneurial; Many will start their own business.
  4. Generation Z are well educated.
  5. Gen Z are philanthropic and will volunteer more for good causes.
  6. Generation Z are digital natives. They were born into technology.
  7. They are more interactive.
  8. Members of this generation are tech savvy.
  9. Their attention span is short.
  10. Gen Z are cautious with their finances. They would rather save and invest than spend.

Gen Z’ers in Nigeria lent their voice to a cause. A cause that forced the country to a standstill and forced the world and its leaders to listen to what Nigerian Youths are saying. The END SARS Protest.

Does this feel like you? I know you’d relate to a great part of this list. Remember to check if your year of birth falls into the Gen Z cohort or you’re a millennial. It is safe to say the Gen Z cohort begins from 1995/97 – 2010.

  1. i’m gen z and even tho it’s not very “in” here in nigeria, i’m happy we’re getting some recognition and respect. we’re seen as fearless and thats because our millenia older siblings and our parents taught us, whether intentionally or not, to fight for what’s right and face our fears. lol. welldone ❤
