It’s been fifty-eight years since my dear country Nigeria, gained its freedom from its colonial lords. Now, I’m asking myself, are we independent or in dependence rather?

IN DEPENDENCE…

Are we independent or in dependence?

Through the years, as I became more and more politically inclined, I have come to see that, though the clutches of neocolonialism are still heavy on us, we are held bound by our own selves. A country that has turned on itself. A nation calling for the head of its brother nation. Brothers turned against each other.

Everywhere, we hear screams for blood and war. But we have forgotten that our strength lies in our numbers. The unity in our diversity is what keeps us stronger. We have allowed a few wealthy ones to take over our minds and will.

People now sell their votes for sums of money that cannot even last a day; meagre amounts that cannot even feed a family. How much more for four years? At what cost do we sell our future? When can we gain more for the four years we sold?

IN DEPENDENCE…

But, despite all of this, we also have to look at the good we have achieved. Young boys and girls are taking hold of their tomorrow. They are fighting to become leaders of both their today and tomorrow. Rather than watch and become leaders at SEVENTY.

WE ARE NOT TOO YOUNG TO RUN! OUR FUTURE STARTS TODAY. WE ARE INDEPENDENT AND IN DEPENDENCE ON OUR YOUTH.

OUR TOMORROW STARTS TODAY.

Nigeria definitely needs soothing and healing and we are surely going to get it. We have begun another year, what can you do to make our country better?

IN DEPENDENCE…

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE NIGERIA!
