This month, my personal theme is GROW AND DON’T BE STATIC. This isn’t just a catchy phrase; it’s a commitment. For me, laying the foundation for 2019 means consciously applying these insights. It means embracing challenges as growth opportunities, looking ahead with hope but focusing on the immediate steps, and understanding that every small effort, every moment of perseverance, is a vital brick in laying the foundation for 2019 I’m actively building. This is my “drop of honey” for the day, and I hope it sweetens yours too.

This was me lazing around like any lecture-free day. I started gaming and got inspired by the game. Well, it’s ZUMA DELUXE for all who know the game and those who do not. What started as a casual gaming session turned into an unexpected wellspring of wisdom, delivering two profound insights that have genuinely reshaped my perspective.

I got two tips that have changed my mentality today for good.

  1. It is always wise to look ahead but difficult to look farther than you can see.
  2. Good timber does not grow with ease. The stronger the wind the stronger the trees.
LAYING THE FOUNDATION FOR 2019

Quick tips on laying the foundation for 2019

The first, a seemingly simple truth from the game, struck me deeply: “It is always wise to look ahead but difficult to look farther than you can see.” This resonated with me because it perfectly encapsulates the balance between ambition and practicality. I can envision my goals for 2019, those grand aspirations that glimmer on the horizon.

Yet, it reminds me that while I should definitely be looking forward, I don’t need to have every single step meticulously mapped out. It’s about taking the next logical step, trusting that the path will reveal itself as I move along. This year, for me, isn’t just about reaching a destination; it’s about appreciating the journey and the lessons I learn along the way.

Then came the second revelation, a powerful metaphor that has truly become my mantra: “Good timber does not grow with ease. The stronger the wind, the stronger the trees.” This hit me hard. It’s so true that genuine strength, real resilience, isn’t forged in comfort. It’s in the struggle, the pushback, and the moments where I feel tested to my limits that I actually grow. When I encounter challenges now, I’m trying to reframe them not as roadblocks but as the “stronger winds” that are shaping me into a more robust “tree”. It’s a powerful reminder that what doesn’t break me genuinely does make me stronger.

Really, it’s not about now. What doesn’t kill you indeed makes you stronger. Whenever you feel stuck, rest a while and continue later. Look at things from a different angle. We all hit walls, but don’t you think that these walls are just meant to keep us from our future? It’s just a height, and we can scale these walls. Not all walls say “stop”. Some are to test our strength and resilience.

Like I said, this month, GROW AND DON’T BE STATIC

That notion of “laying the foundation for 2019 and the new year every day” has become a guiding principle for me, evolving beyond a simple resolution into a daily practice. It’s about understanding that the grand edifice of my future, the 2019 I envision, isn’t built in one sweeping gesture on January 1st. Instead, it’s constructed brick by deliberate brick, each day contributing its own vital piece to the overall structure.

This daily foundational work isn’t always glamorous. It’s the consistent effort, the quiet commitment, the belief that incremental progress accumulates into something monumental. It’s about choosing growth over stagnation in every single moment, even when the wind blows strong. It’s about constantly evaluating, adjusting, and ensuring that each “brick” I lay is solid, reliable, and contributes to the strong, resilient structure I’m determined to build for myself this year.
