nysc post camp struggles

I will be doing this on the basis of relocation. So, my NYSC post camp struggles began after my redeployment from Yobe to Oyo State.

NYSC: POST CAMP STRUGGLES.

I finally got Oyo State. Whilst others were on their way to their various PPAs, I, alongside some others, began another journey to another state. Not to mention the shock on a lot of faces as they began seeing their various LGAs and PPAs and states for those of us who relocated. Yobe was fun. It is cool and beautiful but it’s not meant for me.

My NYSC Post Camp Struggles

At least as compensation, during my clarion tour, I got to see a lot of places and I travelled to as many as 9 states.
Before you decide to relocate make sure you have a PPA in mind or somewhere at least that is sure. Otherwise, be prepared for NYSC to post you as usual. It was quite strange moving around the NYSC secretariat with relocation letters while others had begun their CDS, were already through with documentation and are familiarizing with their PPAs already but then, we’d join up.

Getting A NYSC State Code

A lot of us were scared even after relocation that our state code refused to change but thank God it did. Many including myself were scared of our relocation being cancelled. It’s then you begin to see a lot of BCs concerning that. However, like they say lookout for official information only and since, I followed due process why worry. Finally, I got to the NYSC secretariat but as you’d guess we were asked to come back later as officials were already back in camp for the next stream.

You hear strange things post-camp, like how you can’t withdraw money in another state with your debit card for your salary account else you’d be queried. I guess that’s a rumour and can only be far from the truth. It’s so funny. Does the FG now begin to monitor the accounts of Corp Members? No problem then, we just transfer to another account and withdraw.

NYSC orientation camp is over. it is not as bad as people portray it. NYSC might have derailed from the set goals, aims and objectives to some extent but it doesn’t mean we should change our view from what it was originally set to achieve. If I could enjoy camp this much, I’m looking forward to the next 10-11 months. P.S. I am pro-NYSC. it should not be cancelled. it can be improved. However, if a lot of youths don’t want it, then, it should be made voluntary. Voluntary service will help deal with the population and even make things easier for staff and corps members.
